I was looking for a small DIY art project to take on last summer and I came across an interesting video on YouTube. It detailed a DIY way of transferring an image onto a piece of wood.
Reponsive Web Build Project
As part of my current course we were tasked with building a responsive website, called Cloudstrike, based on a design that we were given. A responsive website is one that will recognise and react to the device that it is being viewed on.
Ogham Stone
Ogham Kerton Font
I designed this font I call ‘Ogham Kerton’, based on my personal logo, a while ago. I didn’t really design it with legibility and function at the fore front of my mind as it was just an experiment. It was simply a personal exercise to learn about creating fonts. I created upper and lower letters, numbers 1-9 and a couple of special characters. Ogham is an ancient written language used in Ireland and Britain during the early medieval period. It is a series of horizontal lines carved across a vertical line into a standing stone. It was often used to honour prominent people.
Repairing An Old Damaged Photo
This photo is extremely badly damaged with tearing, and peeling of the photo surface. It also appears to have some water damage and some discolouration from aging. I thought it was a good candidate for a restoration and repair.
Pinhole Camera
Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day is April 26th. The idea is that you make a pinhole camera and post the photos that you have taken with it on this day. A pinhole camera is a very basic form of camera. It really takes you back to photography as it once was as you have to physically lift the shutter to expose the film. They are relatively easy to make and use. To date I have made two pinhole cameras using this design, the second one of which I haven’t developed the photos from yet. I took this a couple of years ago using my first pinhole camera on Bull Island in Dublin, Ireland. I love the dreamlike look of the photo caused by the blur and the light damage around the edges.

The Dark Tower Graphic

A graphic I made which was inspired by the Stephen King book series ‘The Dark Tower’. The text is the famous first paragraph of the first book ‘The Gunslinger’. The series tells the story of Roland, the last gunslinger, and his ‘ka-tet’. Stephen King’s descriptive powers never fail to create great images.
